Family Nights & Super Saturdays
At STAR Resource Station’s Family Night and Super Saturday events parents, siblings and students join STAR mentor teachers for an edutainment adventure packed with exciting hands-on academic experiences and rollicking learning adventures. Throughout the thematic event, families explore and discover together through large-group exercises and smaller group hands-on activities. We provide planning consultants, teachers, professional speakers, flyers, registration forms, evaluations, and on-site supervision for all events. Family Nights are designed for 50-120 students and parents and run between 1.5-2 hours. Events requires an indoor space with room and chairs for all attendees to sit, such as a cafeteria or MPR, and classrooms for each rotation. Fees family nights vary according to number of attendees and begin at $1800.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Become part of STAR’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit and help solve the mystery that unwinds before your very eyes! After an exciting group opening where families are introduced to forensic science and the mystery of the evening is revealed, small groups divide into labs where participants learn to analyze the evidence and draw conclusions. Labs include fingerprinting, DNA analysis, forensic dentistry and chemical analysis. The evening concludes together with participants sharing the results of their findings and solving the mystery.
Artists, Thinkers, Dreamers
Let loose the artist and the dreamer within you! Join us in this immersive family night where we encourage imagination to rush from unfettered minds. Exploring the emerging science of creative “flow”, parents and students will participate in interactive workshops in visual and performance arts, all designed to inspire their innovative capacity.
Masters of The Past
Join our team of professional artists and scientists as we journey back in time to explore some of the most influential masters from the past. From Leonardo DaVinci to Albert Einstein, history's time line is filled with great innovators that have balanced their ingenuity in the harmony of Art and Science. All families will participate together in a group opening and then split up into smaller hands-on labs that explore these masters' contributions and greatest experiments.
Bring this exciting and versatile math-based architectural system to life through a series of hands-on interactive group building challenges. With the guidance of STAR instructors, attendees learn the basics of the building tool, and then construct 3-D models as families, in groups and as a whole while learning about cubes, bridges and spinners. Tower-building challenges groups to build the strongest and highest tower. Zometool challenges skills in math, science, architecture and creativity, and is fun for the whole family!
Discovery Through S.T.E.A.M.
(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math)
Join STAR’s team of scientists and engineers as we explore S.T.E.A.M. From high flying rocketry to game design, this night is an opportunity for families to learn, side by side, how Science, Technology, The Arts, Engineering and Math are an integral part of the 21st Century. During this interactive event, families will participate in labs delving into electrical circuitry, chemical reactions, and the physics of roller coasters, as they test their ability to think outside the box.

The Science of Science Fiction
How many ideas for real science research have come from the imaginations of science fiction writers? Join STAR Education’s team of super scientists to explore an original Science Fiction story. Journey with our main character Max to the dark side of the moon and help him discover how to build rockets, design magical bubble concoctions, create robotic inventions and more! Spend a intriguing night delving into science fiction literature and your own imagination while conducting these exciting hands-on experiments.
Music And The Brain
In this interactive Family Night experience, students and parents will explore the “Amazing Brain.” From labs in neuroanatomy to applications in movement and music, students and parents will work with STAR’s team of professional Scientists, Musicians and Movement Specialists to explore how the brain learns.
It’s Not How Smart You Are, It’s How You Are Smart
Do you excel at logic and reasoning? Are you a natural athlete, dancer or artist? Is it easy for you to decipher the feelings of others, or yourselves? Do you have a natural facility with words and language? Is music your thing? Parents and students, come and discover your various intellectual abilities with STAR’s exciting interactive workshops, centered on Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Math? Movement? The Brain? Music? Come discover your intellectual depths!
