Romayne Putna is STAR GATE's "Teacher Extraordinaire" and Zome Tool Director. A graduate in Philosophy from the University of Liverpool, Romayne has worked with STAR GATE and STAR Science since 2008, creating curriculum and teaching a variety of subjects, specializing in Math, Science, and the Arts. She is the Co-Creator of "The Inquiry Café", a hands-on "think tank" where students are encouraged to share their questions, ideas and opinions, and become comfortable with the immediate and intuitive experience of learning.
Anne-Marie has her Ph.D in neuroscience, a doctoral minor in molecular and cellular biology and has had extensive practical experience in genetics at a graduate level. She has two bachelors degrees in Biochemistry and General Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She has been teaching Neuro-Applications to teachers and students at STAR since 2010, and serves as a mentor to the STAR GATE team, keeping them continually updated with recent neuroscience research.
Deanne is an American television personality known for PBS's Design Squad, which she co-hosted, and Discovery Channel's Smash Lab, in which she was a participant. She is now the co-host of DIY Network's Money Hunters. Bell is originally from Palm Bay, Florida. In 2002, she graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to appearing on television, Bell was an aerospace engineer based in southern California. Between stints on television, Deanne has been teaching Science and Engineering for the STAR Resource Station since 2009.
Photographer/Teacher Charles Rotenberg is committed to the delivery of portable curriculum designed to inspire young minds through the introduction of technology based programs in math, science and art. Charlie has been instrumental in bringing our popular Lego Robotics program to STARGATE, and has pioneered curriculum development for cutting edge technology programs from such prestigious institutions as Carnegie Melon and MIT.
Shanee received her Master of Fine Arts with UCLA, with an MFA in Screenwriting. She is the recipient of awards in Screenwriting, such as Women in Film Screenwriting (2006), the UCLA/Alfred P. Sloan Science in Screenwriting Award (2006), and the Samuel Goldwyn Excellence in Screenwriting Award (2005). With her specialty in film, and her avid interest in anthropology, evolutionary development and primate behavior, Shanee loves to teach a variety of subjects for STAR GATE, including science, entertainment studies, history and social studies.
Jose Angel Castro
Jose has been working with STAR Education for the past two years, as their event photographer. He has also taught dynamic, cutting edge photography classes for the STAR GATE Department, and will be teaching the students of STAR's private school, STAR Prep Academy, sharing his amazing passion and talent with yet another part of the STAR family. A graduate of New York University, he is also a dancer and martial artist, and has been teaching martial arts for the last 20 years.
Davitt Felder is a BFA Graduate from Carnegie Melon University, and has been working as a professional actor, director, and musician since 2004. He has delighted teachers and students alike with his entertainment-oriented teaching style at STAR GATE, sharing his craft of music, theatre, dialects and Shakespeare with students from kindergarten to high school.
Hannah Ruth Wilde
Hannah has twenty years of experience working with children in a variety of settings. With seven years of teaching in constructivist, arts-integrated, multiple intelligence, development, and traditional settings with strong academic foundation, she is experienced with specialized learners. Hannah loves sharing her passion for writing, health, science and culture with STAR's gifted students.
Travis comes to STAR GATE via the Royal Shakepeare Company, Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, and A Noise Within, where he honed his skills in classical acting, stage combat, and vocal and dialect training. He received a BA in Theatre with a minor in Anthropology from The University of Texas, and also earned a BA in European Medieval History from Heidelberg University in Germany. From Hamlet to Macbeth, from Petruchio to Sir Toby Belch, Travis can educate AND entertain.
