CHALLENGES IN ENGINEERING
Use your imagination and critical thinking skills to invent, design, build and test things that matter. Dream up creative and/or practical solutions and turn your ideas into reality. Engineering, sometimes called the “invisible” profession, is all around us and is as varied as engineers themselves. From building structures to searching for new forms of energy and new worlds in space, the challenges that engineers face are endless. Projects may include edible engineering, robotics, catapults, chemical concoctions and simple machines.
Students will design and program a robot, using Lego’s Mindstorm Kit. The robots will be challenged to perform specific tasks, such as picking up an object, following a path or tug-o-war. Give your young engineer a leg up in the world of computer technology and focus on the 8 essential skills of Legos – Concentration, Communication, Perseverance, Socialization, Planning & Organizing, Design, Creative Problem Solving, and Independent Thinking.
